HUD recently released its Location Affordability Portal and Transportation Cost Calculator, that are part of its Housing and Transportation Affordability Initiative. The goal of the initiative is to provide consumers with information estimates on their annual costs for housing and transportation when choosing where they will live and work. These estimates are based on a variety of sources, including the individual user’s demographics, as well as Census responses. NMHC and our counterparts continue to research the methodology that was used to develop both tools, and will provide feedback to HUD as needed. Please feel free to contact NMHC with any questions.
