Washington, D.C. - Yesterday, National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC) President Sharon Wilson Géno was pleased to participate in a press conference in front of the U.S. Capitol to launch the new bipartisan YIMBY (Yes In My Back Yard) Caucus. She was joined by members of Congress and other housing leaders to announce the formation of the new two-party caucus dedicated to expanding housing supply and opportunity.
NMHC is proud to be an early supporter of the bipartisan YIMBY Caucus. The goal of the YIMBY Caucus is to promote the development of housing across the country.
“As was made clear during this past election season, housing was one of the top 3 issues on the minds of voters as they went to the polls this fall,” said NMHC President Sharon Wilson Géno. “Even more importantly, it is clear housing affordability is not a “red” issue or a “blue” issue, but it is an “everybody” issue impacting urban, suburban, rural and every community in between in every state in our nation. NMHC is proud to support the creation of the bipartisan YIMBY Caucus. We look forward to working with the caucus to enact actionable solutions that will result in more housing choices for all Americans.”
The newly formed Caucus will be led by Representative Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) and co-chaired by members of Congress from both parties including Reps. Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-Oregon), Jake Auchincloss (D-Mass.), Juan Ciscomani (R-Ariz.), Rep. Scott Peters (D-Calif.), Rep. Chuck Edwards (R-N.C.), Rep. Brittany Pettersen (D-Colo.) and Rep. Marc Molinaro (R-N.Y.).
