There are 102 days before November’s midterm elections – Democrats and Republicans are certain that the electorate is energized, which will lead to a surge in turnout at the polls. Although, it is widely reported that there is a deeply unsettled landscape.
Sabato's Crystal Ball at the University of Virginia – a political analysis group run by Larry Sabato – recently moved 17 House seats in Democrats' favor, eight of which went from a "leans Republican" rating to a "toss-up." That means that of the 36 races rated as "toss-ups" 34 are held by Republicans. And as a reminder - Democrats only need a 23-seat pickup to regain the majority they lost in 2010. The organization’s outlook is that “Democrats are now a little better than 50-50 to win the House." Of course, much can happen between now and election day. NMHC continues to monitor the races closely while assisting allies on both sides of the aisle.

The strong member participation and growth of NMHC PAC has helped gain critical attention from key lawmakers, many of whom now reach out to NMHC to be part of the debate and conversation. The PAC has helped increase NMHC’s visibility and ensure a seat at the table on key issues important to the industry.
This year, NMHC PAC has raised $810,000 and we appreciate all those who have done their part. Every dollar donated will help elect those who will stand up for the multifamily industry. And with Election Day quickly approaching, it’s more important than ever to send your support now!
