Next week, the J. Ronald Terwilliger Foundation for Housing America’s Families will host the 2017 Housing America’s Families Forum. The Forum is an opportunity for stakeholders and experts to take an in-depth look at critical housing issues and consider how to best revamp national housing policy. Policy leaders like J. Ronald Terwilliger, HUD Secretary Ben Carson, M.D., and Craig S. Phillips, Counselor to the Secretary, U.S. Department of Treasury, will be joined by a number of NMHC officers, staff and members, including NMHC President Doug Bibby, Daryl Carter of Avanath Capital Management and Larry Curtis of Winn Development.
Notably, Hoyt Advisory Services will be sharing results of a study commissioned by the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC) and the National Apartment Association (NAA) during the Forum that will detail the pressing need for new apartments to the tune of 4.6 million by 2030. Over the course of the day’s program, attendees and participants will have the chance to take part in wide-ranging conversations ranging from the future of the housing market to the regulatory barriers impacting affordable housing and lessons on affordable rental housing that can be drawn from the field, among a variety of other thought-provoking topics.
As a sponsor of the Forum, NMHC is excited to have the chance to take part in the dialogue and looks forward to contributing our own expertise and views to the conversation. “This is a great opportunity for stakeholders from the housing industry to come together and exchange ideas and best practices,” said Doug Bibby, NMHC President. “At a time when the need for more housing has never been greater, it’s critical that policymakers at the federal, state and local levels work together to address this shortage. It will require courageous steps by all stakeholders who are willing to implement inventive policy ideas, provide incentives and reduce impediments to meet demand across all income levels.”
