NMHC/NAA signed onto a coalition letter in February 2017 to the Chairs and Ranking Members of both the Senate and House Committees on Appropriations that explained how individuals, as well as public and private sector entities, use Federal data in support of everyday activities.
Datasets such as the American Housing Survey, the American Community Survey, and the Current Population Survey, all carried out by various Federal agencies, are regularly used by NMHC/NAA staff to both inform our members as well as policymakers on basic statistics such as the number of apartments in the United States. The coalition letter (link to letter) encourages the subcommittees to support funding for the various Federal programs that generate these data.
