NMHC's 2016 Student Housing Income and Expense Benchmarking Survey, the only benchmarking tool of its kind for the student housing market, is now underway. The 2016 Survey Report will measure key expense line items that are reported in absolute dollar figures per bed and as a percent of net rental income. Last year's survey included data for over 320,000 beds from 562 private student housing properties including year-over-year same-store performance from 381 properties.
Our goal is to exceed 320,000 beds and continue to aggregate year-over-year performance so WE NEED YOUR INPUT!
We have made participation as easy and secure as possible through this NMHC web portal. Firms are able to submit demographic property spreadsheets and profit & loss statements as a single zip file once logged into the NMHC website. Owners need only provide their December 31, 2015 unaudited Profit and Loss statements (in excel format only) for each property and complete this form providing demographic info for each property (# of beds, # of units, age of property, location, etc).
Firms submitting data will receive an advanced copy of the results along with an additional free copy if attending the fall conference. Post-conference, the survey will be available online at $500 for NMHC members and $1,000 for non-members.
Note: We are only able to use information for properties for which you have a 12-month (December 31, 2015) statement.
Complete the survey by the April 30, 2016 deadline to receive advanced copies of the final report by August 31, 2016.
All data will be held in the strictest confidence by NMHC and will only be shared in aggregate results making it impossible to determine an individual firm's financial results for a property.
