Welcome to NMHC's Listserves
These email discussions offer members a forum for exchanging ideas and thoughts, and provide answers to questions and challenges faced by fellow members and industry colleagues. We currently have three active listserves:
- Emergency Preparedness
Covers natural disasters, pandemics/outbreaks, terrorism and more.
This listserve is open to all who work in the industry, NMHC membership is not required to participate, however press will not be allowed to join.

Sign Up for a Listserve
To participate in the listserves, you must have a members only account on the NMHC website. If you do not have an account, you can create one by visiting www.nmhc.org/Create-Account.
- Once you have an account, log in to it at www.nmhc.org/My-Account.
- Select the Professional Info tab.
- Scroll all the way down and check the listserves you wish to subscribe to and click the "SAVE" button
- Your request to join the listserve will be approved within 24 hours.
How to Send a Message to a Listserve
Once you have subscribed to a listserve, you can send a message via your email or via the LISTSERV website. (You will need to create an account on the site. See below for instructions.)
To send a message via email, send an email to the email address listed below for your listserve.
- General Counsel Listserve: generalcounsel@lists.nmhc.org
- Emergency Preparedness Listserve: preparedness@lists.nmhc.org
- Research Listserve: research@lists.nmhc.org
LISTSERV Website
If this is the first time you are sending a message using the LISTSERV website, you will need to create an account by registering a password. Your listserve password is not the same as the password for your NMHC account. This account can also be used to view listserve archives.
- Visit the Subscriber’s Corner at http://lists.nmhc.org/scripts/wa-NMHC.exe.
- Click the Log In on the top right corner.
- Click Register Password.
- Enter your email and password.
- You will receive an verification email from LISTSERV titled "Command confirmation request." Click the link in the email to activate your password and it will take you back to the LISTSERV website.
- Log in and you can begin using the LISTERV website to send a message to the listserve.
- Select Subscriptions on the left side panel, it will show you the listserves you are subscribed to, select the one you want to send a message to.
o - Near top right of the screeen, click the icon with three lines to open a dropdown menu and click Post Message
- Follow the instructions on the screen to send a message to the listserve.
Listserve Archives (Past Messages)
Visit http://lists.nmhc.org/scripts/wa-NMHC.exe to view the archives. You may need to set up a password to view the archives. This is not related to your NMHC account user credentials. Follow the instructions for creating an account shown above.
Unsubscribe from a Listserve
At the bottom of every listserve email is a link to unsubscribe.
- Click on the "unsubscribe" link
- Fill out the form
- You will receive a email confirming your decision to unsubscribe, click on the confirmation link unsubscribe.
