Like so much in the multifamily industry throughout the pandemic, COVID-19 has impacted property operations in several critical ways including rent and debt collection and consumer reporting requirements.
One obvious challenge for property owners/operators grappling with significant changes in their rent collections, has been dealing with COVID-19 related regulatory requirements on debt collection and consumer reporting. However, navigating this ever-changing regulatory landscape is not new. The shifts brought on by the pandemic occurred while the industry was already bracing for implementation of the CFPB’s new debt collection rule and attempts to change the data that is eligible to be reported to consumer bureaus or appear on consumer reports.
Join NMHC for a webinar to learn more about the changing landscape and how to navigate regulatory compliance during these uncertain times. Specifically, we’ll explore possible impacts to credit reporting, risk management and what’s needed to support sustainable industry operational practices.
