CONFERENCE UPDATE:
NOTE: For those inquiring, we will hold the 2017 NMHC OPTECH Conference & Exposition at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. We take our attendees security seriously, as does the hotel. We have been in touch with the hotel and they have made security a top priority. In addition to the security provided by the hotel, NMHC engages private security contractors at all our events, and we are conferring with them regarding safety measures at the conference.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the individuals and families affected by this attack. Several members have reached out asking how they can help. By holding the conference as planned, we are supporting the local economy and all the people who rely on it for their living. Some additional options for making donations are the National Compassion Fund and The Code Green Campaign.

NMHC has set aside a block of rooms for meeting attendees. Room reservations should be made directly with the Mandalay Bay Resort online or by calling 877/632-9001 and ask for the NMHC OPTECH rate. The group room rates start at $165 single/double occupancy per night (plus $27 daily resort fee and applicable taxes) and includes complimentary Wi-Fi access.
Rooms at the NMHC group rate are filling up quickly, so some room nights may be a higher rate than the group rate listed above. If you are quoted at a higher rate when you make your reservation, please complete your reservation and then email Melissa Rowan at mrowan@nmhc.org to make a wait list request for a room at a lower rate should one become available.
Please make your reservation before Friday, September 29. Note: The hotel requires a deposit of the first night's room rate plus resort fee and tax when you make your room reservation.
Wait List Instructions: The hotel block is filling quickly. If you are unable to secure a room reservation at the Mandalay Bay, please contact Melissa Rowan at mrowan@nmhc.org to be placed on the wait list. Please include the name of the guest(s), room nights needed, and contact information in your email. Attendees will be assigned rooms on a first come, first serve basis as we receive openings within the hotel.
Cancellations: We anticipate selling out our entire room block at the group rate at the Mandalay Bay. If your plans change and you need to cancel your reservation there, please contact Melissa Rowan directly at mrowan@nmhc.org before canceling with the hotel so she may reassign your room to another NMHC member on the hotel's wait list, if needed. Please include the reservation name(s), reservation date(s), and hotel confirmation number in your email. If you simply need to change the name or dates on an existing reservation, please contact Mandalay Bay directly at the phone number above. To cancel attendee registrations, please email membership@nmhc.org.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Don't get lured in. In the past, sleeping room wholesalers have contacted exhibitors/attendees offering great deals on hotels for the NMHC OPTECH Conference & Exposition. While it is not illegal for a travel firm or booking agent to solicit potential customers, it can be difficult to determine the legitimacy of offers from these organizations. Those who opt for alternatives to the NMHC negotiated rates may find themselves at risk. NMHC reminds its attendees/exhibitors that we have no affiliation with any of these room brokers.
Ground Transportation
The Mandalay Bay Resort is approximately 4 miles from McCarran International Airport. For those of you arriving by air, you have the following alternatives for ground transportation:
- A taxi from McCarran International Airport will cost approximately $24 each way and will take approximately 15 minutes, depending on traffic.
- An alternative to taxi service is SuperShuttle, a shared ride service that may make multiple stops. The cost is $11 each way. For more information or to make a reservation, call 800/258-3826 or visit the SuperShuttle website.
- For attendees renting a car, please note all of the major car rental companies are located at McCarran Rent-A-Car Center, a central facility located about 2.5 miles and a 10-minute shuttle ride from the airport.
- For attendees driving and parking at the hotel, self-parking is $10/day and valet parking is $18/day.

Conference Registration
NMHC’s OPTECH Conference & Exposition is open to NMHC members and non-members. Conference attendance fees or waivers do not include hotel room charges.
The registration policy is as follows:
- NMHC Executive Committee Members: receive three (3) complimentary registrations and may register additional representatives for a fee of $600 each, until September 22, and $800 thereafter
- NMHC Board of Directors Members: receive one (1) complimentary registration and may register additional representatives for a fee of $600 each, until September 22, and $800 thereafter
- NMHC Advisory Committee Members: may register representatives for a fee of $600 each, until September 22, and $800 thereafter
- 2017 Chairman's Circle Sponsors ($50,000 or more): receive four (4) additional complimentary registrations
- 2017 Friends of the Council ($25,000 to $49,999): receive two (2) additional complimentary registrations
- 2017 OPTECH Conference Sponsors ($5,000 to $24,999): receive one (1) additional complimentary registration
- Non-Members: may register representatives for a fee of $1,200 each, until September 22, and $1,400 thereafter
- Exhibitors: receive three (3) full conference badges with each paid 10' x 10' booth
- Start-up Exhibitors: receive one (1) full conference badge with each paid kiosk
Member registration is contingent upon dues being current. NMHC reserves the right to close meeting registration should interest exceed availability.

NMHC's Policies on "Suitcasing", "Outboarding" and “Off Show Floor Exhibitor Entertaining”
In order to protect our valued exhibitors and the investment they have made to participate in the 2017 NMHC OPTECH Conference & Exposition, show rules strictly prohibit solicitation by attendees or non-attendees (NMHC members and non-members alike) who transact business at the exposition or in the Mandalay Bay Resort and do NOT have exhibit booths. Meeting Cancellation Policy
Meeting cancellations must be sent in writing to NMHC. Written requests for meeting cancellation refunds received prior to ten (10) business days before the start of the meeting are entitled to a full refund, minus a processing fee of $250. No meeting cancellation refunds will be granted within ten (10) business days prior to meeting commencement.

New in 2017! Start-Ups Center
To support start-up firms in the apartment industry, NMHC will feature a new area in the exhibit hall called Start-Ups Center. Start-Ups Center is designed to feature new companies and their products/services to conference registrants. Companies meeting the criteria may showcase their products/services in this
dedicated space.
Given the amount of start-up businesses that want to exhibit , but often can’t due to limited budgets and lead time, and/or logistics, this is a great opportunity for those companies who qualify. Full details and qualifications are listed in the OPTECH exhibit form.
Frequently Asked Questions:
If I list a contact on the exhibit request form, will that person be automatically registered to attend the conference? No. You must register whoever will be attending the conference (including booth personnel) online on the OPTECH Conference registration page.
How do I register the individuals using the comp registrations that I receive with my booth? Once your booth request paperwork has been processed and you receive a booth assignment with an invoice or receipt, you can go online to register the persons attending.
What are the exhibit hall hours? The exhibit hall will be open as follows:
- Wednesday, October 25: 5:30 - 7:00 PM
- Thursday, October 26: 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM and 5:15 - 6:30 PM
- Friday, October 27: 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM (Supplier Showcase at Closing Lunch Social - NOTE: does not take place on exhibit hall floor. Please view the OPTECH exhibit form for full details.)
Exhibit hall hours are closed at all other times. Exhibitors may not stay in their booth during non-exhibit hours.
When will the Exhibitor Services Kit be available? The Exhibitor Services Kit will be published and emailed to exhibitors in late August.
