About Shelters to Shutters
Shelters to Shutters (S2S) is a national 501(c)3 organization that transitions individuals and families from homelessness to economic self-sufficiency by educating and engaging the real estate industry to provide employment and housing opportunities. Across the country, Shelters to Shutters partners with property management companies to find ready to work, quality employees for their entry level positions. The result is an innovative program that provides mentorships for careers in property management, along with full-time employment and housing opportunities and a pipeline of high quality, motivated employees for the multifamily housing industry. S2S works with the best homeless service providers in local communities to source deserving individuals including veterans, domestic violence survivors and individuals excited for a career in property management.
Current industry partners and supporters include AvalonBay, Bonaventure Realty Group, Borger Management, Crescent Communities, Colliers International, Drucker & Falk, Elmington Property Group, Equity Residential, Entrata, Finlay Management, Freeman Webb, Lennox Companies, Middleburg, Paragon Properties, Trinity Property Consultants and Waterton.
S2S program participants have a 96% annual employee retention rate compared to an industry average of 49% with over 70% participating in career advancing training programs within their first year of hire. The program is not only cultivating thriving members of our local communities but also valued employees committed to the multifamily industry.
