Networking has long been one of the most valuable benefits of membership in the Council so we understand that one of the biggest questions you have is whether we will hold our 2020 and early 2021 events. Allow us to state from the outset that the health and safety of our members is our utmost priority.
As of now, we intend to hold our 2020 OPTECH Conference and Exposition as an in-person meeting, and with that goal in mind, we are working closely with our hotel partners to create protocols for health screening, social distancing and sanitation to protect our attendees.
We understand, however, that in-person events may not be possible based on the evolving nature of this pandemic so we are also investing in our digital infrastructure to support either hybrid events (some in-person, some online) or fully “virtual” conferences.
Rest assured that if we do need to pivot to digital content, the content and overall experience of the event will retain our high level of quality and will include opportunities to network and interact with our supplier partners.
Yes, if you cancel your registration within 14 days of the event (November 2), you will receive a full refund for your registration. Cancellations received after November 2 for paid registrations are eligible for a refund minus a $250 processing fee. You can also transfer your registration to a colleague at your firm without additional charge.
Should NMHC cancel the in-person event after the cancellation window due to the pandemic, all paid registrations will be refunded.
Yes. Hotel reservations can be canceled within 72 hours prior to your scheduled arrival date without penalty.
The health and safety of our attendees is NMHC’s top priority. NMHC is working with our hotel partners to ensure social distancing and other health and safety measures are addressed at our events. We expect to have a number of safety precautions in place, including widespread availability of hand sanitizer, special attention to food/beverage, and reduced capacity (or increased spacing) in our sessions. We will closely be following all federal, state and local guidelines in place at the time and are committed to exceeding all requirements.
- Non-invasive thermal temperature scans at all entrances;
- All employees wearing face coverings, and complimentary face coverings available and encouraged for guests;
- A team of cleaning professionals disinfecting guest areas 24 hours a day;
- Nearly 300 hand sanitizer stations throughout the resort.
- Appropriate and comfortable physical distancing in all gaming and dining areas.
The Wynn Las Vegas is developing protocols and guidelines in accordance with the guidelines set by the local/state government. They also enlisted a team of top-rated medical and health professionals, including current or former faculty and fellows of Georgetown and Johns Hopkins Universities. You can learn more about their protocols through this Health & Safety Video and this 20-page Health & Safety Plan. Among the things guests can expect:
Due to the rapidly evolving environment we are all living through, NMHC will not be issuing a call for presentations this year. However, we will continue to engage the Council’s membership, primarily through our committees, to ensure that we are addressing the industry’s most pressing issues in these uncertain times.
Upon cancellation of an in-person event, we will contact the meeting/conference sponsors of that event with the options to reallocate their investment.

Exhibitors will be refunded in full for their exhibit space rental. Exhibitors are responsible for any show service orders and must cancel any orders if the in-person event is cancelled. Cancellation policies for any show service orders will vary per vendor and will be listed on order forms.
